Balance of Life

Balance of life is focused on time balancing and reflection on life decisions. The game is inspired and based on Samuel Beckett's play 'Quad'. The central quad area that has the same layout as the play with four minigames at each corner. The main goal of the game is to manage the time in the quad making sure the pawn in the minigame room can re-enter the quad on time.

The minigames are designed to be simple and easy to not draw away from managing the pawn in the quad. Each minigame has an emotional theme, Calm, Happy, Boring and Angry which are reflected in its themed colour, music and gameplay.

For example the yellow minigame represents joy and my team thinks feeding chicks will be a joyful experience. The goal of this minigame is to feed the chicks and prevent them from starving.

The size of the chicks will change according to their fullness. If the chick is full, it will get bigger. If it is hungry, it will get smaller. As this minigame uses the colliding of the food and the chick's hitbox, the larger chick will have a bigger hitbox and it is easier to get the food. Therefore it is easy for the player to keep feeding the full chick but forget about the hungry chick. This game is about balancing the feeding for all chicks.
